Job Details

Duties:  Installs new software versions on application servers.  Ensures that the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices are in the delivery of enterprise, data and network services.  Installs IAVAs and ensures that the network elements, encryption devices, operating system and application servers are IA compliant.  Operates and maintains the Production SIPR and NIPR server farm for MCOTG.  This includes the Continuing Operations (COOP) server farm.  Performs nightly, weekly and monthly backups.  Rehearses recovery procedures weekly to ensure any restore can be done as quickly as possible.  Backups are for all servers in the production and COOP server farms.  Rebuilds VM operating systems that act as application server platforms and deploys into production as required.  Coordinates all outages due to re-deploy of application servers with MCOTG command.  Configures and optimizes network servers, routers, switches and encryption devices.  Installs, operates, upgrades and backs up network management software used to monitor network capacity and performance.  Identifies and develops training unit network requirements, develops network logical diagrams from requirements, validates and updates network diagrams as required.  Based on network plans; installs, configures, testes, maintains and upgrades network equipment (network servers, routers, switches and encryption devices) and logical networking components; builds and operates tactical networks.  From Network plan, configures logical and specific IP addresses for network on network elements.  From configuration Management plan, backup and restore processes for all network element and QOS configuration files and Internet Operating Systems.  From data plan, configures operates, modifies and maintains logical domain using MS Active Directory.  Provides network and data services trouble call resolution and provide feedback to the users as well the command to resolution steps.  Provides systems administration (update, patch, backup, restore) for Win 2003 enterprise server and Linux Operating Systems. Provides back up and restore process for all user data on SAN and NAS storage devices as well individual servers.  Configures, installs virtual machine application servers for GOTS and COTS applications.  Configures and installs virtual network interface cards for GOTS and COTS application servers.  Maintains GOTS and COTS software library for command and training units.

Civilian Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or Electrical Engineering desired. Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE - Win 2003 Enterprise Server),  Technical Specialist (MCTS - MS Exchange server 2003/07, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0/server 2007, MS SQL Server 2005), Cisco Certified Network Administrator, and Comp TIA Network + and Comp TIA Security+ Certifications required. 

Military Operational Experience: -Previous military service is required.  Preference is former U.S. Marine.  Minimum of three (3) years experience in data communications and networking within a military communications unit.  Knowledgeable in Information Assurance (IA) to identify recommendations for facility safeguards to include Crypto equipment interconnectivity i.e KG-175s.  Knowledgeable in digital communication networks (classified [SIPR] and unclassified [NIPR]) employed in support of military operations.  Knowledgeable of integrating systems and applications across the SIPR and NIPR networks in order to support data paths to include the integration of multiple protocol QOS applications to improve network efficiencies.  Knowledgeable in network management (troubleshooting, escalation, isolation, problem solving, solution), SAN configuration, operation, maintenance and backup and database administration.  Knowledgeable of tactical C4ISR systems that shall be used by the MCOTG C2 and Simulation Architecture.  The servers and applications include but are not restricted to the following:

  -  COTS Servers- MS 2003 Enterprise server, Windows SharePoint Site 3.0 SharePoint 2007, Exchange 2007,   SQL Server 2005, IIS, Symantec, ESX 2, VSMP, VMotion, VitrualCenter.

  -  GOTS Servers: IOSv1/v2, CPOF Mid Tier Server, IAS, MarineLink, BAT, CIDNE, JADOCS 

  -  Applications: IAC, BAT, CIDNE, CPOF, C2PC, AFATDS, JADOCS,

Proof of Security Clearance: Shall possess, or be eligible to acquire a secret clearance, at a minimum.
